Play Carrier Aces Online
You pick your WWII plane, dodge flak, and duel another player—mess up a landing, and that bird’s gone for good. Split-screen makes every dogfight feel personal, whether you’re in the cockpit or manning the ship’s guns.

Carrier Aces is one of those SNES games that feels like it should’ve been way more popular. You’re a WWII pilot—either US or Japanese—launching off an aircraft carrier into split-screen dogfights or bombing runs. The cool part? Every mission’s a two-player showdown, even if the second "player" is just the AI. One of you flies, the other mans anti-air guns on a ship, which keeps things tense.
At first, I just dove into quick dogfights, but the real meat is the campaign. You pick your plane before each battle—fighters, bombers, torpedo carriers—and each handles differently. Mess up a landing, and that plane’s gone for good. The map screen makes it feel like a bigger war, even if most fights boil down to tight 1v1 duels. Controls take a minute to click (especially those finicky carrier landings), but once they do, pulling off a perfect torpedo run feels awesome.
It’s janky by modern standards, but there’s something about the split-screen chaos that still holds up.
