Castelian came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991, developed by Bits Studios. It was one of those puzzle platformers that felt a little different from the usual run and gun games of the era, more about careful movement and spatial thinking than fast reactions.

You control a small character navigating a series of isometric, multi-level towers. The goal is to climb each tower by finding keys to unlock doors while avoiding hazards like spikes and moving platforms. You explore screen by screen, often backtracking through trap-filled loops when a door leads to a dead end. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty comes from precise jumps and timing your movements around shifting obstacles. It feels like a tense, methodical climb where every step matters.
