Caveman Games came out on the NES in 1990 from Data East, a company known for a lot of arcade style ports. It was part of that wave of goofy, multiplayer focused party games that tried to capture the same energy as something like the Mario Party series, but with a lot more primitive clubbing.
You pick one of several cavemen and compete in a series of Olympic style events, but with dinosaurs and rocks instead of javelins and hurdles. The main objective is to win each event by mashing buttons with frantic speed, whether you're chucking a boulder, riding a saber-toothed tiger, or trying to out-club another player in a duel. The pacing is fast and the controls are intentionally clumsy, making every event feel like a chaotic scramble. It feels like a silly, button mashing race against a friend more than a test of skill.
