Chuck Rock came out on the Sega Genesis in 1991, developed by Core Design. It was part of that wave of early 90s platformers that leaned into a cartoonish, slightly goofy style, standing out with its prehistoric theme when a lot of games were either space shooters or fantasy adventures.

You control Chuck, a caveman whose wife has been kidnapped by the rival Garry Glitch. Your goal is to get her back by moving screen by screen through jungles, icy caves, and volcanic areas. Your main moves are a belly flop to stun enemies and the ability to pick up and throw rocks, which is your primary way to attack. The pacing is deliberate; you often have to stop, assess the enemies ahead, and line up your throws. It can get pretty tough, especially with some precise jumping sections. Playing it feels like a straightforward, physical puzzle where every rock counts.
