Play Chuck Rock (Beta) Online

You play as a caveman who belly-flops dinosaurs and hurls boulders at pterodactyls—it’s clunky at first, but nailing that perfect gut-slam feels weirdly great. The whole thing looks like a Saturday morning cartoon gone prehistoric.

Game Overview

Chuck Rock came out on the Super Nintendo in 1991, developed by Core Design. It was part of that early wave of SNES platformers, sitting alongside games that were still figuring out how to use the hardware for more colorful, detailed worlds. The game doesn't try to be epic; it's just a straightforward, silly adventure.

You control Chuck, a caveman on a mission to rescue his wife from the villainous Gary Gritter. You move screen by screen, belly-flopping onto dinosaurs and other prehistoric nuisances to stun them, then picking up and hurling boulders to finish them off or hit switches. The pacing is deliberate, with some tricky jumps and enemy placements that demand patience. It feels like a solid, if sometimes stubborn, test of your timing and aim.
