Circus is a 1980 arcade game by Exidy, playable today through MAME. It arrived in arcades when simple, single-screen concepts were common, offering a straightforward premise without the complexity of later titles. The game doesn't try to be anything more than what it is: a test of timing and reflexes.

You control a performer at the bottom of the screen, moving him left and right on a small trampoline. Your goal is to bounce a second character upward to pop all the balloons lining the top of the tent. The core mechanics involve timing your bounces to gain height and carefully avoiding the roaming enemy clowns that patrol the platforms. The game starts slow but quickly accelerates, demanding precise movements as balloons burst and the pace intensifies. It feels like a race against your own reflexes, where one mistimed jump sends everything into disarray.
