Claymore: Gingan no Majo is a Nintendo DS game from 2009, developed by Namco Bandai Games. It came out during a time when the handheld was full of action RPGs and manga adaptations, and this one is based on the dark fantasy series Claymore. You play as Clare, one of the silver eyed warriors who hunt monsters in a grim, medieval world.

You control Clare through side scrolling environments, moving screen by screen to clear areas of monsters. Combat revolves around timing your heavy sword swings and dodging attacks; you also manage a yoma energy gauge that, if maxed out, temporarily transforms you into a more powerful but risky awakened being. The game is methodical, even difficult, requiring patience with its deliberate pacing and tough boss encounters. It feels like a faithful, hands on extension of the source material's tense, weighty battles.
