Colin McRae Rally on the Game Boy Color is a stripped-down, top-down take on rally racing—way different from the console versions, but surprisingly fun in its own way. You’re looking down at your tiny car as it zips through winding dirt roads, sliding around corners like a toy on a table. The physics are arcade-y, so don’t expect hardcore sim stuff here.
You’ve got a handful of real rally cars to pick from (Subaru, Ford, etc.), and the tracks get pretty gnarly with weather and tight turns. I usually jump into Championship mode first—it’s got that "one more race" hook when you’re trying to claw your way up the leaderboard. Time Trial’s good for practicing without pressure, though. Just don’t crank the difficulty too high right away unless you enjoy rewinding after every tree collision.
It’s not the deepest racer, but for a GBC game, it nails that rush of barely keeping control on a muddy bend.
