Game Overview

Combat Choro Q: Advance Daisakusen came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2004, developed by Access and published by Atlus. It was one of those quirky, offbeat titles that filled the GBA library, a time when handhelds were full of experiments that didn't always get a wide release outside Japan. This one definitely flew under the radar for a lot of people.

You control a small, customizable tank with a comically large cannon, moving across grid-based maps to destroy enemy vehicles. The main goal is to complete missions by either wiping out all opponents or reaching specific objectives. Between battles, you spend a lot of time in the garage tweaking your tank's loadout, swapping parts like armor, engines, and weapons to suit different challenges. Combat itself is turn-based and methodical; you line up shots, manage your limited ammunition, and try to outmaneuver foes who often have the terrain advantage. It's not a fast game, and some missions can feel punishing if your setup is wrong, but that tinkering and retrying loop is surprisingly engaging. Firing a well-placed shell and watching an enemy tank explode never gets old.
