Cool Hand is one of those Game Boy Color games that sneaks up on you—it looks simple at first, just tapping buttons in rhythm, but suddenly you're hunched over your GBC, muttering "okay, last try" for the 20th time. The mechanics are straightforward: hit the right buttons as shapes fly at you, but the speed ramps up fast, and before long, your fingers feel like they're playing Twister.
What I love is how it nails that sweet spot between puzzle and reflex game. The colors pop nicely on the GBC screen, and the music has that classic chiptune crunch—you can almost smell the batteries dying in your Walkman. It’s not some epic RPG, but it’s perfect for quick bursts or killing time on a bus ride. If you ever played Dance Dance Revolution with your thumbs, this’ll feel weirdly familiar.
Fair warning: the later levels get brutal. I still haven’t beaten the last stage without my hands cramping up.
