Crime City came out in 2009 for Arcade, developed by Funzio Games. It was part of that wave of beat 'em ups that felt right at home on arcade cabinets, straightforward and built for quick sessions. You didn't need a complicated story; you just jumped in and started swinging.
You control a street fighter moving through the city, clearing screens of enemies before advancing. The main goal is to fight your way to the end of each stage and defeat the area boss. Key mechanics include picking up weapons like pipes or knives from the environment, performing combos on groups of thugs, and occasionally dodging environmental hazards. The pacing is fast, with difficulty that spikes noticeably during boss encounters. It feels chaotic and immediate, like you're wading into a messy street fight every time you drop a coin in.
