Play Cross Hunter : X Hunter Version Online
Toss a cross-shaped boomerang at weird little monsters, dodging their attacks in these short, punchy levels that feel like a pixel-art fever dream. That floating eyeball boss still haunts me.

Cross Hunter: X Hunter Version came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, developed by KID and published by Natsume. It was part of that late-era wave of GBC games that tried to squeeze a little more life out of the hardware before the Advance arrived, offering a solid, if somewhat niche, action experience.
You control a hunter who explores a series of themed worlds, moving screen by screen to clear out all the enemies before you can proceed. Your main weapon is a cross-shaped boomerang that you can throw in four directions; timing its return is key to hitting foes from behind or catching multiple targets. The main objective is to defeat each area's boss, which often requires learning specific patterns and exploiting openings. The pacing is brisk, with short levels that demand quick reflexes, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly on some of the later bosses. It feels sharp and responsive, a game where every throw and dodge matters.
