Play Custom Robo Online
Your mom hands you a battle bot like it’s no big deal, and suddenly you’re tweaking parts and brawling in tiny arenas where dodging a laser feels as good as landing one.
Custom Robo came out on the Nintendo 64 in 1999, developed by Noise. It was one of those late-generation N64 games that explored more unconventional ideas, focusing on small-scale robot battles instead of sprawling adventures or platforming. The game didn't get a huge marketing push, but it built a quiet following among players who appreciated its deep customization and tactical combat.
You play as a rookie Robo Commander, customizing your small robot with different bodies, legs, guns, bombs, and pods before entering enclosed 3D battle arenas. The main objective is to progress through a story mode, defeating rival commanders and unraveling a conspiracy, while also engaging in optional battles to collect new parts. Signature mechanics include mixing and matching robotic components to create a unique fighting style, and using terrain in the arena for tactical advantages, like taking cover or setting traps. The pacing is brisk, with short battles and a steady stream of new parts to experiment with, though some later fights can demand precise strategy. It feels satisfying to outmaneuver an opponent with a build you designed yourself.
