Game Overview
Custom Robo on the N64 is one of those weird little gems that sticks with you. You start off getting this tiny battle robot from your mom (because apparently that’s just a normal Tuesday in this world), and before long, you’re sucked into underground robo fights with your buddy Shinichi. The battles are fast, chaotic, and take place in these cramped little arenas where dodging matters as much as shooting.
What really makes it special is the customization—you’re constantly swapping out legs for better speed, testing new guns that fire weird homing shots, or slapping on armor that looks ridiculous but actually works. Some parts feel useless at first, but then you find a combo that just clicks. I remember stumbling into this slow, tanky build with a flamethrower and suddenly wrecking everyone who’d beaten me before.
There’s a full story mode with rivals, tournaments, and some surprisingly decent writing for a game about toy robots fighting. And if you’ve got friends around, the versus mode turns into absolute chaos—especially when someone picks the tiny, fast robo that just zips around the stage like a maniac. It’s the kind of game where you lose an hour just tweaking your loadout before you even realize it.
