Cyborg Kuro-chan: Devil Fukkatsu came out on the Game Boy Color in 2000, developed by KID and published by Victor Interactive Software. It was part of that wave of late-era Game Boy games that tried to push the hardware with colorful graphics and fast action, based on a popular anime series that not everyone outside Japan knew about.
You control Kuro, a robotic cat equipped with an arm cannon, and your goal is to stop an evil organization from causing havoc. The game plays as a side-scrolling shooter where the screen automatically scrolls forward, forcing you to react quickly. You swap between different weapons, like a spread shot or homing missiles, to clear waves of enemies and avoid environmental hazards. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly in later stages. Playing it feels like trying to survive a colorful, chaotic storm of bullets and cartoon villains.
