Play Dark Kingdom Online
You’re a mercenary working for the Demon King, wrecking towns and recruiting sketchy allies while the actual hero keeps showing up like you’re tied to their story. The first-person battles feel clunky in a weirdly nostalgic way, and sneaky night missions keep things tense.

Dark Kingdom is one of those SNES RPGs that flips the script—you’re not the hero out to save the world, you’re the guy working for the Demon King. You play as Gene, a mercenary who signs up for the dark side and gets sent on missions to, well, make things worse for everyone else. At first it’s just small-time stuff, but as you climb the ranks, you unlock new areas of the demon castle and recruit other shady characters to your party.
The turn-based battles are first-person, which feels old-school even for the time, and there’s this day-night cycle that actually matters—some missions only pop up after dark. The weirdest part? You keep running into Lux, the "real" hero, and the game slowly hints at why they’re connected. It’s not the deepest RPG out there, but playing as the bad guys gives it a fun twist.
Just don’t expect a happy ending—you’re literally working for evil.
