Dark Seal is one of those arcade gems that feels like it got lost in time—in a good way. You pick from a few fantasy characters (I always go for the wizard, even though his spells take forever to charge) and hack through waves of monsters in this side-scrolling dungeon crawl. The controls are simple—just attack, jump, and a special move—but the enemies get surprisingly clever about surrounding you.
What I love is how weighty the combat feels. When you land a hit, the screen shakes a little, and enemies actually stagger. The music’s got that classic arcade synth vibe, all dramatic and slightly cheesy. It’s not the deepest game, but there’s something satisfying about clearing a room full of skeletons without getting cornered. Just watch out for the boss fights—they’ll wreck you if you button-mash.
