Game Overview
Dark Seed came out for the Amiga in 1992, developed by Cyberdreams and published by a few different companies depending on the region. It was a point and click adventure that stood out at the time, mostly because of its visual style, which was based on artwork by H.R. Giger. You play as Mike Dawson, a writer who moves into a creepy old mansion and soon finds his reality invaded by a nightmarish alternate dimension.
You control Mike from a first person perspective, moving screen by screen through the mansion and the dark world. The main goal is to stop an alien parasite from implanting itself in your brain, and you only have three in game days to do it. The gameplay revolves around exploring both realities, solving inventory based puzzles, and interacting with a small cast of characters. Time passes in real time, which adds pressure, and some puzzles are quite obscure. Playing it feels like being trapped in a slowly unfolding anxiety dream where every wrong move brings you closer to a bad ending.
