Darkman for the NES came out in 1991, published by Ocean Software. It was one of many licensed games from that era, based on the film about a disfigured scientist turned vigilante. Like a lot of NES titles from the early 90s, it tried to capture the movie's tone while working within the hardware's limitations.
You control Darkman through side-scrolling levels, punching and kicking thugs, avoiding environmental hazards, and occasionally using explosives to clear paths. The main goal is to progress through each stage, defeat bosses, and ultimately take down the crime boss responsible for your transformation. The game uses a lives and continues system, and the difficulty is fairly high, with some awkward jumps and enemy placements. Playing it feels like a constant, tense scramble to survive.
