Play Darxide Online
Pilot your fighter craft through cubic sectors, hunt alien motherships, and clear out enemies and asteroids before time runs out in this challenging 3D shooter.
Darxide came out in 1995 for the Sega 32X, developed by Frontier Developments and published by Sega. It was one of those games that tried to push the hardware, a fully 3D polygonal shooter in an era where that was still a novelty on home consoles. It didn't get a huge amount of attention, but it had a specific, almost clinical appeal for players looking for a pure, unadorned challenge.
You pilot a small, agile fighter craft through a series of cubic sectors in deep space. Your objective is to hunt down and destroy a set number of alien motherships in each sector before a timer runs out. The core loop involves methodically clearing each cube of all enemy fighters and asteroids; destroying every last piece of debris in a sector reveals a valuable power-up. The game is brutally difficult, demanding constant spatial awareness and precise shooting as threats come from all directions. It feels like a tense, high-stakes puzzle where one wrong move can end your run in seconds.
