Game Overview

Deae Tonosama - Appare Ichiban is one of those weird, charming SNES games that never made it outside Japan. You pick between two ridiculous characters: a samurai who fights with a folding fan (because swords are too mainstream) or this French dude who throws roses like they're deadly shurikens. The whole thing plays like a side-scrolling beat 'em up, but with way more floral assault than you'd expect.

I went in expecting something serious and got smacked in the face with absurdity—in the best way. The fan attacks have this weirdly satisfying whoosh sound, and the rose guy’s animations are just… unnecessarily dramatic. It’s the kind of game where you’re either all in on the weirdness or you bail after five minutes. I stayed.

Definitely a hidden gem if you’re into offbeat 16-bit action.
