Game Overview
Demolition Man on Genesis is basically that 90s action movie with Stallone turned into a side-scrolling beat 'em up. You play as Spartan, punching your way through waves of goons in prison jumpsuits before facing off against Phoenix himself. The controls feel a little stiff now, but there's something satisfying about the way enemies crumple when you land a solid hit.
First level throws you right into a prison riot - you'll be smashing pipes over heads and tossing guys into electrical panels within minutes. The sprite work holds up surprisingly well, especially Phoenix's ridiculous glowing eyes. Just don't expect the plot to make much sense if you haven't seen the movie.
It's pure 16-bit cheese, but in that way only licensed games from this era can be.
