Demolition Man on the Super Nintendo came out in 1995, published by Acclaim Entertainment. It was one of those many licensed games from the era, based on the sci-fi action movie, and it fit right in with the platform's library of side-scrolling beat 'em ups and shooters.
You control Sergeant John Spartan, working through levels screen by screen, fighting gangs with punches, kicks, and limited firearms. The main goal is to rescue hostages and defeat Simon Phoenix, but the real challenge is managing your scarce ammo and navigating environments that require precise jumps and ledge grabs. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly, especially during some of the claustrophobic interior sections. It feels like a tense, sometimes unforgiving scramble through a futuristic city falling apart.
