Dennis the Menace on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System came out in 1993, developed by Ocean Software. It was one of those many licensed platformers that filled the shelves back then, based on the comic strip and the movie that was new at the time. The game doesn't try to reinvent the wheel; it just drops you right into the neighborhood chaos you'd expect.

You control Dennis, and your main goal is to rescue your friend Joey and your dog Ruff, who've been locked in Mr. Wilson's shed. You move screen by screen through the neighborhood and into Wilson's house, using your trusty slingshot to pop balloons and hit enemies like bees and garden gnomes. You also collect water balloons to upgrade your shot and search for hidden cookies to earn extra lives. The pacing is slow, and the controls feel a bit stiff, which makes some of the platforming frustratingly precise. It feels like a very straightforward, sometimes clunky challenge from that era.
