Game Overview

Desert Strike on the Amiga throws you straight into the cockpit of an Apache helicopter with a mission that feels ripped from early '90s action movies. Some rogue general named Kilbaba (or Muababa if you played the GBA version) is threatening nuclear war, and suddenly you're the only thing standing between him and global chaos.

The isometric view makes everything feel tense—you're constantly swiveling to spot anti-aircraft guns while dodging tank fire, and those SCUD missile sites don't blow themselves up. At first, I kept running out of fuel because I got too trigger-happy with the missiles, but then I realized rescuing POWs actually repairs your chopper. Smart little touch.

You've got machine guns for close-range chaos and two types of missiles, though the stronger ones are rare enough that you start hoarding them for boss fights. Nothing beats the panic of hearing that low-fuel warning while you're still three targets away from completing the mission. It's one of those games where every decision matters, and mistakes hurt.

Still holds up as a solid mix of strategy and arcade-style shooting, even if the politics feel dated now.
