Play Devil World (Japan) Online

You play as a tiny dragon snatching crosses while the maze shifts under your feet—those devils don’t play fair, and neither does the screen. Feels like Pac-Man if someone kept tilting the table.

Game Overview

Devil World is this weird little NES gem from Shigeru Miyamoto that never made it to the US back in the day—probably because of all the crosses and religious imagery that freaked out Nintendo of America. It plays like Pac-Man but with some twists: you're a little dragon collecting crosses while dodging devils, and the whole maze actually scrolls sideways when you hit the edges. The screen keeps shifting on you, which makes it way more chaotic than it looks at first.

Fun fact: Miyamoto reused some of the mechanics here for later games, so you can kinda see the early DNA of stuff like Zelda dungeons in how the mazes work. It’s simple, but the scrolling gimmick gives it a unique feel compared to other maze chasers. Definitely worth a look if you’re into retro curiosities.
