Play Devil World (Japan) (Rev A) Online
Guide Tamagon through mazes, collect dots, dodge enemies, and use power-ups to freeze the devil’s scroll in this fast-paced 1984 NES classic.
Devil World came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1984, developed and published by Nintendo. It was one of the earlier titles on the platform, arriving before many of the system's most recognizable franchises had taken shape. The game stands out for its maze-chase style, a familiar genre at the time, but with a distinct visual and mechanical identity that set it apart from contemporaries like Pac-Man.
You control a small green dragon named Tamagon, navigating a series of single-screen mazes. Your goal is to collect all the dots scattered throughout each stage while avoiding enemies. The screen scrolls in one of four directions, controlled by the devil at the top of the screen; if you get caught against a moving wall, you lose a life. You can collect crosses and Bibles, which temporarily allow you to defeat enemies or freeze the devil's scrolling. The pace is relentless, with the constant screen movement creating a tense, claustrophobic pressure. It feels like a race against the maze itself, where every moment demands quick decisions and sharp reflexes.
