Game Overview

Ever wanted to make your own SNES shooter but had no idea how? Dezaemon is basically a weird little miracle—it shoves a full game-making toolkit into a Super Nintendo cartridge. You’ll spend the first ten minutes staring at menus in broken English, then suddenly realize you’re placing enemy spawns and drawing tiny spaceships pixel by pixel. The editor’s janky by modern standards, but there’s something magical about tweaking bullet patterns or composing screechy FM music for your homemade R-Type clone.

It’s not pretty—expect clunky controls and some truly bizarre default enemy designs—but that’s part of the charm. I lost hours just making a single level where squid-shaped aliens divebombed the player to the sound of my terrible chiptune "composition." And yeah, you can force your friends to play your monstrosity. For retro nerds, it’s like digging up a forgotten prototype of Unity… if Unity ran on a 16-bit potato. Surprisingly deep once you wrestle with it.
