Dig Dug II is that weird, kinda brilliant sequel where instead of just tunneling underground, you're popping chunks of an island into the ocean like some kind of landscape-destroying maniac. You play Taizo again (the guy with the bike pump), but now you inflate enemies until they burst or strategically crack the ground beneath them to send them plunging into the water.

It's chaotic—sometimes you'll misjudge a fissure and accidentally drop half the level, including yourself. The music still has that bouncy, slightly unhinged charm, and the Pookas look just as derpy when they're floating away on little rafts. Not everyone loved the shift from pure digging to island sabotage, but there's something satisfying about watching a whole chunk of land collapse because you poked the right spot.
