Digimon Battle Spirit is one of those GBA games I kept coming back to when I wanted something fast and chaotic. You pick your favorite Digimon—I always went for Guilmon because fire breath never gets old—and jump into these wild little arena brawls where you're dashing around, landing combos, and trying not to get wrecked by your opponent's special move. The screen gets so busy with pixel explosions and flying attacks that sometimes you can barely see what's happening, but in the best way possible.
It's way simpler than the usual Digimon RPG stuff, which honestly makes it more fun for quick sessions. Some of the matchups feel unbalanced (looking at you, Veemon mains), but that just means you gotta get creative. The sprites have this chunky, colorful charm that still holds up, and pulling off a last-second victory with your Digivolved form never stops feeling satisfying. If you've got a friend with a copy, the versus mode turns into pure, button-mashing chaos.
Definitely a hidden gem if you're into old handheld fighters that don't take themselves too seriously.
