Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers came out on the Game Boy Color in 2000, published by Ubisoft. It was one of those licensed platformers that felt right at home on the handheld, colorful and straightforward, a familiar kind of adventure for Disney fans with a GBC in their pocket.
You control Donald through a series of side-scrolling levels, jumping on enemies, swinging a frying pan at bees and other obstacles, and collecting blue diamonds to progress. The main goal is to rescue Daisy from Merlock the magician, which means navigating themed worlds, avoiding environmental hazards, and dealing with Donald's occasionally slippery movement. It moves at a brisk pace, and some jumps require precise timing, but it never feels overly punishing. Playing it feels like guiding a chaotic cartoon character through his own slightly uncoordinated, but determined, rescue mission.
