1994 Amiga adventure game. Play as Ryan, a bartender tasked with killing targets to protect the DreamWeb. Features top-down perspective, cursor-tracking zoom, limited inventory, and violent gameplay choices. Contains mature content.
DreamWeb is one of those weird, unsettling Amiga games that sticks with you. You play as Ryan, a bartender in a grimy cyberpunk future who’s barely holding it together—constant nightmares, blackouts, and then suddenly some monk shows up in his dreams telling him he’s gotta murder seven people to save the world. Of course, he says yes, because at this point, why not?
The gameplay’s classic point-and-click, but with a twist: everything’s cramped on screen, no scrolling, just these little slices of a depressing city. You’ll click around, pick up way too much junk (half of it useless), and talk to people in blunt, no-nonsense dialogue that somehow still pulls you deeper into the story. And yeah, sometimes the "solution" to a problem is just… killing someone. It’s brutal, and the game doesn’t shy away from showing the ugly side of that.
Oh, and the original release came with this wild 40-page diary written by Stephen Marley, detailing Ryan’s spiral into either madness or destiny—depends how you see it. The whole thing’s got this grungy, paranoid vibe that feels way ahead of its time. Just don’t play it if you’re squeamish about violence or, uh, certain adult scenes.
It’s the kind of game that leaves you staring at the ceiling afterward, wondering what the hell you just experienced.
