Driver '76 throws you into a grimy, comic-book-style New York in the '70s, where you play as Ray—a guy who really should’ve thought twice before messing with a Triad boss’s daughter. The city’s split into distinct areas, from Jersey’s industrial zones to Coney Island’s chaos, and you’ll be tearing through all of it in everything from beat-up muscle cars to the downright ridiculous (yes, the Ecto-1 is here for some reason).

Most missions are straightforward—outrun cops, deliver contraband, shoot your way out of trouble—but the real fun comes from just how much dumb stuff you can do between story beats. Steal an ambulance and pretend you’re a paramedic? Sure. Slam a semi-truck into a street race? Why not. The car handling’s weighty, so don’t expect arcade drifts, but that makes nailing a tight escape even sweeter.

There’s a ton of side hustles if you need cash for upgrades, like taxi driving or pink-slip races where losing means walking home. Multiplayer’s barebones but decent for some local chaos, especially if you’ve got a friend willing to trade paint jobs or wreck each other in demolition modes.
