Dune II on the Amiga was one of those games that sucked you in for hours without realizing it. You start off picking between three factions—Atreides, Harkonnen, or Ordos—and honestly, the Harkonnen’s brutal firepower always felt the most satisfying, even if their units were slow as hell. The first few missions are all about scraping together enough credits to build a decent base, scouting the desert for spice fields, and praying the enemy doesn’t send a squad of missile tanks your way before you’re ready.

The graphics were blocky even back then, but there was something hypnotic about watching harvesters crawl across the sand and your concrete slabs slowly forming a base. And that soundtrack? Still gets stuck in my head. Just don’t forget to save—losing your entire army to a surprise sandworm attack is the kind of pain you only need to experience once.
