Play Dune II: The Battle for Arrakis Online
Command your chosen House, build bases, harvest spice, train units, and conquer Arrakis in this classic real-time strategy game from 1992.
Dune II: The Battle for Arrakis came out in 1992 for MS-DOS, developed by Westwood Studios. It was one of those games that quietly defined a genre, arriving at a time when real-time strategy was still finding its shape. You don't hear much about it from younger players, but for those of us who were there, it was impossible to ignore.
You control one of three Great Houses, each with unique units and strengths, and your goal is to dominate Arrakis by crushing the other factions. You build refineries to harvest spice, construct barracks and factories to train infantry and produce vehicles, and slowly expand your base across the desert. The pacing is deliberate; you spend a lot of time managing your economy and waiting for enough resources to mount an attack. It's a tough game, unforgiving if you don't scout properly or defend your harvesters from sandworm attacks. Playing it feels like conducting a slow, methodical war where every decision carries weight.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
