Game Overview

Warcraft: Orcs & Humans came out in 1994 for MS-DOS, developed by Blizzard Entertainment. It was one of those games that really defined what a real-time strategy title could be on PC at the time, sitting alongside other early genre pioneers without a lot of the polish you'd see later. You could tell it was built for an era of keyboard commands and deliberate, thoughtful play.

You control either the orc or human faction, managing peasants to harvest gold and lumber, constructing buildings to train units, and leading your forces across a fog-covered map to destroy the enemy's stronghold. The game plays out screen by screen, with a focus on careful resource management and small-scale tactical engagements. The pacing is methodical, and the difficulty can be punishing if you expand too quickly or mismanage your army. Even with its occasionally clumsy unit movement, there's a real satisfaction in seeing your base thrive and your enemy's fall.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
