Game Overview

I first played Sid Meier's Civilization II back in 1996, when it came out for MS-DOS as part of the Classic Games series from MicroProse. It was a time when strategy games were deep, turn based, and demanded patience; you'd spend hours at the keyboard, completely absorbed in building an empire from scratch.

You control a civilization from its earliest days, managing cities, researching technologies, and negotiating with rival leaders. The main goal is to achieve dominance through conquest, diplomacy, cultural influence, or by launching a spaceship to Alpha Centauri. Key mechanics include exploring the world tile by tile, engaging in tactical combat with varied military units, and carefully balancing your economy and infrastructure. The pacing is deliberate, with each decision carrying weight across centuries of simulated history. It feels like conducting a grand, unpredictable experiment where every session tells a new story.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
