Play Civilization Online
Build and expand your empire, manage resources, explore the map, engage in diplomacy, and conquer rivals in Civilization on SNES.
Civilization on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System came out in 1991, developed by MicroProse. It was one of the more ambitious strategy games on the platform at the time, translating a complex PC experience into something that worked, more or less, with a controller. It stood out for its depth in an era dominated by action and platforming titles.
You control the growth of an entire empire from a single settler unit. Your main goal is to achieve dominance through conquest, technological advancement, diplomatic alliances, or by being the first to build a spaceship and reach Alpha Centauri. Key mechanics include exploring a vast, fog-covered map with units, managing city production to build everything from warriors to wonders, and engaging in turn-based tactical combat with rival civilizations. The pacing is deliberately slow, a game of long-term planning where a single session can easily last hours. It feels like conducting a grand, patient experiment in history where every decision echoes for centuries.
