Dynasty Warriors Advance came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2005, developed by Koei. You choose an officer from the Three Kingdoms era and guide them across a strategic map, moving territory by territory. When you engage an enemy force, the view shifts to a top down action scene where you slash through waves of soldiers using simple combos. The main goal is to capture enemy bases and defeat opposing commanders to turn the tide of larger battles. You collect weapons and stat boosting items to strengthen your character for tougher fights. The pacing is deliberate, with the strategic layer giving you time to think before the frantic combat begins. It feels satisfying to slowly conquer the map and watch your efforts change the course of each battle.
