Game Overview

Earthworm Jim 2 on the Game Boy Advance came out in 2002, developed by David A. Palmer Productions and published by Crave Entertainment. It was a time when handhelds were getting more ambitious, trying to bring console-like experiences into your pocket. This was one of those attempts, a side-scrolling action game that felt both familiar and completely unhinged.

You control Jim, an earthworm in a super suit, running and gunning through a series of absurd, themed levels. Your main goal is simply to survive the chaos and reach the end of each stage. You use your head as a whip to attack enemies, and you find various bizarre weapons, like the Plasma Blaster or the homing missiles. The game is known for its screen-by-screen exploration and some light puzzle-solving, often involving environmental interaction or finding hidden paths. The pacing is frantic, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly, especially during some of the more gimmick-heavy stages. It feels like a chaotic, slightly janky cartoon that you have to wrestle with to see what happens next.
