Play ESPN Winter X-Games Snowboarding 2002 Online

Pick a pro snowboarder, hit the halfpipe, and go wild with flips and grabs—just try not to eat snow when you botch the landing. The races get messy when you’re shoving other riders out of the way mid-jump.

Game Overview

Remember when snowboarding games were all about big air and ridiculous tricks? This one nails that early 2000s vibe perfectly. You pick from 13 real pros—like Barrett Christy or Danny Kass—and hit the slopes in Superpipe, Big Air, or Bordercross. The controls are simple enough to pull off grabs and spins without faceplanting every two seconds, but nailing a perfect run takes some practice.

What’s cool is how each event feels different. Big Air’s all about timing your flips just right, while Bordercross turns into a chaotic race where you’re elbowing past AI riders. The pixelated halfpipe actually looks decent for a GBA game, and bailing a trick sends your boarder tumbling in that classic exaggerated way. It’s not super deep, but for quick sessions between classes or bus rides, it holds up better than you’d expect.

Also, Rio Tahara’s neon outfit is still burned into my memory. That’s commitment to style.
