So, Sonic Winter Adventures is this fan-made Genesis romhack that turns the usual green hills into a full-on snowstorm. You’re still speeding through loops and bouncing off springs, but now everything’s covered in ice—which, yeah, makes stopping a bit of a challenge. The badniks toss snowballs instead of whatever they usually throw, and there’s this one section where you grind down frozen rails like some kind of hedgehog snowboarder. It’s janky in that classic beta way, but the winter vibe actually works surprisingly well.

Just don’t expect polished Sega quality—some of the level layouts feel a little experimental, and the physics occasionally go weird on slopes. Still, if you’ve ever wanted to see Sonic slip-sliding his way through a blizzard, this is oddly satisfying.
