Game Overview

Exhaust Heat came out for the Super Nintendo in 1992, developed by Saurus. It was part of that wave of early 90s racing games that tried to capture the speed and technical challenge of Formula 1, using the SNES hardware to push a sense of velocity and competition.

You control an F1 car, competing in a full championship season against rivals modeled after real drivers like Ayrton Senna and Nigel Mansell. The main objective is to win races and secure the championship. Signature mechanics include managing tire wear and fuel consumption during races, along with making strategic pit stops to stay competitive. The handling is twitchy and demands precision, especially on the narrow, winding tracks. Races are tense and difficult; the AI drivers are aggressive and rarely make mistakes, so you have to fight for every position. It feels rewarding to finally nail a perfect corner and gain an edge, that Mode 7 speed creating a genuine thrill when everything clicks.
