Game Overview

FA-18 Interceptor on the Amiga was one of those games that made you feel like a real fighter pilot—or at least as close as you could get with a joystick and a CRT monitor. You start off catapulting from an aircraft carrier, and within seconds, you're dodging missiles and lining up shots on enemy jets. The controls take a minute to get used to, but once you do, pulling off tight turns and locking onto targets feels surprisingly smooth.

The graphics were impressive for the time, with a 3D-ish cockpit view and terrain that actually looked like something other than colored blocks. The missions start simple—take out a few bogies—but later ones throw everything at you, from dogfights to bombing runs. And yeah, landing back on the carrier? Still stressful every time.

It’s one of those games where you’ll crash a lot at first, but when you finally nail a perfect mission, it’s worth it.
