Play FIFA '97 - Gold Edition (En,Fr,De,Es,It,Sv) Online
Pick Germany, tweak your formation, and dive into chunky 16-bit soccer—commentary’s repetitive, but those pixel crowds go wild during penalties.

FIFA '97 Gold Edition came out for the Super Nintendo in 1996, a time when the console was still holding its own against newer systems. EA Sports published it, and this version bundled several language options, which was a nice touch if you had friends from different places. It was one of the later soccer titles on the SNES, and it tried to squeeze a bit more out of the hardware before the shift to 3D really took over.
You control a team of eleven players, passing and shooting your way toward the opponent's goal. The main objective is simple: score more goals than the other side. Signature mechanics include through passes that try to split the defense, sliding tackles that risk a card if mistimed, and a penalty shootout mode that feels tense even with the limited visuals. The pacing is generally quick, though player movement can feel a little heavy compared to some arcade-style competitors. It feels satisfying to set up a good play and watch it unfold, even with the graphical constraints.
