Final Set Tennis came out for the Super Nintendo in 1991, developed by Human Entertainment. You control a tennis player from an isometric view, moving them around the court to receive serves and return shots. The main objective is to win matches by outmaneuvering your opponent and placing the ball where they can't reach it. Two mechanics define the gameplay: you charge up your shot by holding the button to determine its power, and you must carefully time your swings to direct the ball with accuracy. The pacing is methodical, favoring strategy over reflex, and the computer opponents can be brutally efficient, punishing any poorly placed shot. It feels like a genuine test of patience and court awareness, where every point is a small battle of wits.
