Firepower 2000 came out for the Super Nintendo in 1992, developed by Sunsoft. It was one of those early SNES shooters that tried to push the hardware with fast action and a lot of on-screen chaos, fitting right in with the kind of arcade-style experiences people were looking for at the time.
You control either a helicopter or a ground assault jeep, tasked with clearing each stage of enemy vehicles, turrets, and robotic bosses. The main objective is straightforward survival, blasting through waves of foes while collecting power-ups to upgrade your main weapon and secondary missiles. Signature mechanics include the two-player co-op mode, where one player flies and the other drives, and the ability to switch between air and ground targeting depending on your vehicle. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty spikes noticeably in the later stages, demanding quick reflexes and smart positioning. It feels like a constant scramble to keep your firepower ahead of the enemy's numbers.
