Game Overview

Flying Hero came out for the NES in 1991, developed by Aicom. It was one of those side-scrolling action games that felt familiar at the time, but it had a few ideas of its own. You don't see many games where you play as a firefighter bouncing around on trampolines, and that alone made it stand out on a shelf full of platformers and space shooters.

You control a firefighter who has to rescue people trapped in burning buildings. Your main tool is a trampoline; you bounce from floor to floor, avoiding flames and enemies, grabbing civilians, and carrying them to safety. The screen scrolls vertically as you move, and the physics have that distinct, floaty NES feel, almost like a pinball bouncing between obstacles. It's not an easy game; the layouts are tricky, and the flames spread quickly. Playing it feels like a race against the fire itself, a constant push to save everyone before the building collapses.
