Play Forgotten Worlds (World) (v1.1) Online
Fly around as a jetpack soldier, blast mutants and bosses, collect power-ups, and tackle challenging levels in this co-op shooter.
Forgotten Worlds came out on the Sega Genesis in 1989, developed and published by Capcom. It arrived early in the system's life, a time when arcade ports were common but not always smooth; this one stood out for its ambitious two player co-op and unusual setting. The game didn't try to fit a mold, offering a strange mix of horizontal and vertical shooting that felt different from other titles on the platform.
You control a lone jetpack soldier, or two in co-op, flying freely in any direction across each screen based level. The main goal is straightforward: blast through waves of mutants and monstrous bosses across eight stages to save a warped future Earth. Your character can rotate 360 degrees to aim independently of movement, a signature mechanic that demands constant adjustment. Between levels, you spend collected currency at a shop to purchase temporary power ups, extra lives, or permanent weapon upgrades like spread shots or homing missiles. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty is significant, especially in later stages where enemy patterns become dense and demanding. It feels like a constant, fluid dance of positioning and firing, a test of coordination that is both punishing and deeply satisfying when you get it right.
