Game Overview

Frostbite is one of those classic Atari 2600 games that’s way more intense than it sounds. You play as an Eskimo hopping between floating ice blocks—which already feels sketchy—while birds dive at you and these weird sideways-walking crabs try to knock you into the freezing water. Mess up a jump or get bumped, and you’re done.

The real pressure comes from the temperature meter ticking down. You’ve got to collect enough blocks to build your igloo before it hits zero, then scramble inside before you freeze. First time I played, I barely noticed the meter until it was too late. Those crabs move faster than you’d expect, too.

It’s simple, but the timing gets brutal fast. Four lives never feel like enough once the ice starts breaking apart.
