Frostbite came out for the Atari 2600 in 1983, developed and published by Activision. It was one of those games that felt right at home on the system, simple in concept but surprisingly engaging once you got into it. You don't see many games built entirely around hopping across ice floes and building igloos, but that's exactly what this one offered.

You control an Arctic explorer who must jump between moving blocks of ice to avoid falling into the freezing water. Your goal is to construct an igloo by collecting fish that appear across the screen, one piece at a time. The main mechanics involve timing your jumps carefully as the ice drifts and sometimes breaks, while also dodging birds that swoop down and crabs that skitter across the lower platforms. The pace is quick, and the difficulty ramps up steadily as you advance, with fewer safe spots and more enemies. It feels tense but satisfying when you manage to complete a level against the odds.
