Fullmetal Alchemist: Dual Sympathy came out for the Nintendo DS in 2006, published by Bandai. It was part of that early wave of DS games that tried to make the most of the dual screens and touch controls, though it never became a huge hit. If you were into the anime or manga, it was a nice little side story to jump into, especially if you liked portable action games.
You control either Edward or Alphonse Elric, moving through side scrolling stages while fighting homunculi and other enemies. The main goal is to advance screen by screen, clearing out foes and occasionally solving light environmental puzzles using alchemy. Signature mechanics include using the touch screen to draw transmutation circles for special attacks and switching between the brothers to leverage their unique abilities. The pacing is fairly brisk, and the difficulty stays manageable without too many frustrating spikes. It feels responsive and straightforward, capturing the energy of the source material without overcomplicating the action.
